Course description

This 2-day workshop will teach the use of the FeltLOOM® needle-felting machine as a tool for textile design and creation. An understanding of the machine operations and techniques for making felted fabric designs, as well as re-purposing textiles, that can be used to create your own unique designs. This course will appeal to anyone who has an interest in designing and creating felt based materials and products. Gather some friends and enjoy this creative retreat. Meals, supplies and lodging included.

Participant requirements

This is an introductory level course and no prior knowledge of textiles is necessary.

Course Content

The course covers essential skills including techniques, textures, patterns and layering. It provides an overview of FeltLOOM® needle-felting technology with a demonstration of fabric production or transformation using fiber to fiber and fiber to fabric. The course will include examples of design approaches and provide guidelines for FeltLOOM® artwork and skills for combining different fibers to transform them into works of art. Participants will apply the skills they learn to create their own original design that will be processed into fabric.

• Gain an understanding of the essential FeltLOOM® functions for design,   production and operations.
• Be introduced to needle felting technology, process and workflow.
